Introduction to Information on Housing

Information: Facts, Resources, & Contacts

Housing Programs

There are Many Different Housing Programs:

  • Some programs can help people with disabilities.
  • Some housing programs can help people with low income (including people with disabilities).
  • Some housing programs can help a person build, own and maintain housing.
  • Some housing programs can help people who are homeless.

The PHA

The Public Housing Authority (PHA) finds and helps pay for housing for people who have low incomes. There is a PHA office in almost every county in Ohio.

Your Rights

People with disabilities have specific rights under the law. For example, it is against the law to refuse to sell or rent a home to a person because the person has a disability. The law also says that a person with a disability has the right to make reasonable accessibility modifications to her or his home, either at the landlord's expense (if the landlord received federal funding), or at the individual renter's expense.
