This event provides information to organizations about how to become and Employment Network for Social Security beneficiaries. Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program offers new opportunities to expand the scope of services and supports available to assist Social Security beneficiaries with disabilities who are interested in entering or re-entering the workforce. In addition, the new administrative and regulatory improvements have made it easier and more profitable for Employment Networks to participate in the Ticket program and the Networks get paid earlier in the employment process, more often and at higher rates.

This training is designed for parents and will provide an overview of the transition process under IDEA 2004 and current Ohio law. Parents will (1) engage in activities and discussion around the planning process necessary to develop transition plans that are a part of a student's IEP, beginning when the student turns 14, (2) know how to proceed with their own son's or daughter's transition development, (3) know what questions to ask about the transition process and (4) know the steps necessary to move their student from the academic environment into an independent adult life.

The courts and federal agencies are shaping the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) through their decisions and settlements. This session will review key issues that are currently before the courts and analyze the trends. Discussion will include some of the trends in case law at the lower courts which may have an impact on decisions at all levels, including issues that may find their way to the Supreme Court. In addition, the presenter, Barry Taylor, Legal Advocacy Director, Equip for Equality, will review how the courts are interpreting the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.
