Accessible design/construction and third-party landlord liability disputes
now handled by HUD

Disputes in accessible design/construction housing and third-party landlord liability cases will now be handled by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC) previously handled these cases. HUD, according to a directive issued by the agency, will now investigate and maintain jurisdiction for these two categories of cases. Cases still under investigation by OCRC where a finding has not been issued on the merits of the case will be officially closed on September, 30, 2009. HUD will reactivate these cases and continue with the investigation. Future cases should be filed directly with HUD.
