What we do:

• advise Ohio Legal Rights Service on priorities and issues important to people receiving mental health services.
• promote recovery through increased access to client rights and advocacy services

Our goal is to promote rights, recovery and leadership in Ohio's Mental Health Consumer Community.

Who we are:

The Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI) Advisory Council is comprised of the following representatives:

• people who received or are receiving mental health services;
• family members;
• attorneys;
• mental health professionals;
• citizens knowledgeable about mental illness;
• providers of mental health services.

You are invited to join the OLRS' PAIMI Advisory Council's Leadership Institute

We believe that people who have mental illness can be leaders in a community which promotes and supports their own recovery and the recovery of others. For this reason, we created the Leadership Training Institute which has its purpose

• to promote leadership within the mental health consumer community, and
• to increase self-advocacy skills of consumers and their organizations.

Will you help lead the mental health consumer community to become better than it is?

• Your ideas could improve the mental health consumer community so it better promotes and supports recovery.
• Your skills could guide consumers as they travel the path to recovery.
• Your knack for bringing people together could energize consumers to work as a team.
• Your experiences could give others insight into "what it's all about."
• Your voice could be the voice of the mental health consumer community.

The Leadership Training Institute will provide you with the training you need to become a leader. Contact OLRS' PAIMI Advisory Council, because our best leader might be you!
