The Ohio Legal Rights Service (OLRS) is an independent state agency and the federally and state designated Protection and Advocacy System for people with disabilities in the State of Ohio. The mission of OLRS is to protect and advocate, in partnership with people with disabilities, for their human, civil and legal rights:

OLRS is an independent state agency and Ohio's protection and advocacy system for people with disabilities. OLRS advocacy services are free and confidential. Services range from information and referral, to mediation and negotiation, to legal advocacy. If you are having a problem that is related to your disability, OLRS may be able to help you. To learn more about how OLRS can help, see the Need our Help? section.
If you have a question that is not disability-related, please refer to the State Agency Contact Information of the State of Ohio Web site for a list of other State agencies in Ohio. The State of Ohio's Web site also offers a Help Center service. There you will find self-help materials, and can have access to a representative of the Live Help system who can answer your questions or direct you to the appropriate agency.
211 Ohio may also be able to help you. 211 is a human services information and referral system that is available in select counties in Ohio. Refer to the 211 Ohio Web site for more information.

Case files and other client based information at OLRS are confidential under both state and federal law. Client communication with OLRS, including an initial request for services, is privileged as if between attorney and client or pursuant to statute and rule governing the Ombudsman section of OLRS.
